Peoples Choice Award

2011 Design Winner Peoples Choice

The Draper

I recently was asked to design a sofa for the Sofa Company!

Meet the DRAPER!

This vintage 60's inspired sofa features a button tufted seat and back with a solid walnut base. A sofa James Bond could be seen sipping a martini on. Classic, sexy, and sophisticated...

Click her to view or order my sofa on The sofa Company's website

I would suggest getting it at 84" in length the scale works better. Its shown at 79". Its the Sofa Company's policy to show every sofa at that length.

This sofa would also look good in a white leather or blue or tangerine velvet!

Boys Hope House Project

Boys Hope Video Makeover
What an amazing project. As ASID's Community Service Chair I chose to refurbish the Boys Hope House in Santa Ana. Boys Hope Girls Hope is an organization that helps children whose lives and futures are greatly at risk, at no fault of their own, but who are academically capable, and show great promise. They help these bright, determined children to realize their full potential and achieve their dreams by providing them each with a value-centered, family-like home, a quality private education through college, and a host of ancillary services and opportunities.

A message from Robin Sinclair Executive Director at Boys Hope Girls Hope: “We couldn't be more thrilled with the renovation- absolutely gorgeous, and a home in which our scholars can be proud! You put the H in HOPE! Thank you Stephanie Cook for all of your creativity and hard work. We are forever grateful!”

Make a Wish!

So I just finished my second room makeover for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Caitlin Caro an extraordinarily resilient young woman has been battling cystic fibrosis since she was born and her one wish was to get her room designed by an interior designer. I was the lucky designer fortunate enough to make her wish come true.

As I interviewed Caitlin, I began to draw inspiration from her personality and interests. Walking out of our meeting a few ideas came to mind. Floor to ceiling mirrored walls to expand the challenged small space while providing ample viewing for cheer leading practice with her girl friends! She also mentioned she wanted bright colors. Luckily I already had vintage headboard, which I reupholstered with a funky colorful floral pattern, which became my inspiration for the color palette. I decided on a deep turquoise for the walls while choosing splashes of bright colors for accents to keep the space upbeat and cheery.

Another thing Caitlin asked for was storage, so I added a lacquered zebra storage unit to hold all of her nic knacks along with a flat screen and DVD player to keep her occupied during her treatments. To make Caitlin feel like a princess I painted the baseboards and doors and antique gold and finished the room off with a custom chandelier and a Tibetan lamb rug.

What a great week, I am so thankful to have met Caitlin and her family. Caitlin's face was priceless when she walked into the room and per her words the room was beautiful! So I guess I did my job.
Caitlin we are glad you like you’re new grown up room!

Hatch - The Design Public Blog

The Hatch interviewed me about my experience on Design Star. Here is one of the questions check the rest of my interview at The Hatch.

What kind of response have you received from clients and the general public since the show has aired? Has your appearance on the show brought you a lot more work? Less work (I doubt it)!?

People have been very supportive, I can’t believe I have fans! My company PLURAL Interior Design has been swamped with inquires. I have been working on expanding and coming up with new services to better serve my clients. I have a one day makeover for people pressed for time and design online so anyone anywhere can have a beautiful home. I hope to shake the design world and become an inspiration to creative thinkers worldwide.

Design Star

I had the honor of competing on HGTV's Design Star, season 3. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Watching it on tv makes it seem so easy but it's definately a lot of work with no sleep, but loads of fun. I met so many great designers and it was fun having so many creative and spunky people around all the time.

Here is Mikey V and I playing around on our spare time. Check out more Design Star videos on you tube.
